Functional and Hygienic Flooring for Doublebrook Meat Processing Room & Chiller

Project Overview

Doublebrook Meat sought a high-performance flooring solution for their meat processing and coolroom areas. The existing floor presented significant challenges, including water pooling along the walls, which complicated cleaning processes and posed hygiene risks. To meet operational demands, the project required a swift turnaround, incorporating a drainage solution and level adjustments to optimise water flow and ensure compliance with food safety standards.

Our Solution

FloorCo tackled the drainage issues by installing a new drain and applying a gradient screed, expertly designed to redirect water flow toward the drain and prevent pooling at the walls. This enhancement streamlined wash-down processes and significantly improved hygiene conditions in the facility.

For the flooring, we implemented the Sentinel PU-Stone Flooring System, a food-grade, HACCP-accredited solution tailored for meat processing environments. This system offers:

  • Durability: Engineered to withstand heavy use.
  • Slip Resistance: A P5 slip rating for optimal safety in wet conditions.
  • Ease of Maintenance: A rounded stone texture paired with a high-repellency topcoat for efficient cleaning.

The system’s rounded stone texture not only provides excellent traction but also contributes to the overall aesthetic of the space.

The Outcome
The upgraded flooring system has revolutionised the meat processing room, delivering a safer, more functional, and hygienic environment. key outcomes include:
  • Enhanced Water Management: The drainage system and gradient screed effectively eliminate pooling, supporting quicker and more thorough wash-downs.
  • Improved Hygiene: The food-grade, stain-resistant flooring material ensures compliance with stringent safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Aesthetic Appeal: The selected colour palette provides a clean and professional look, reinforcing the facility’s commitment to quality.
With these improvements, Doublebrook Meat now benefits from a flooring solution that supports efficient operations while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and safety.
